Wood Green in north London is a busy urban centre with a big shopping area with two cinemas, bars, nightclubs, plenty of restaurants and cafes and a shopping area, The Mall, close to the tube station. The tube station on the Piccadilly line take residents into Piccadilly Circus in just 23 minutes direct so its very well connected. The area is a London hub as defined in the London plan.
Wood Green also incorporates the district and destination of Alexandra Palace which is a historical entertainment venue in the beautiful Alexandra Park. It was originally opened in 1873 but rebuilt in 1875 following a destructive fire. It was designed to serve as a public centre of recreation, education and entertainment and as north London's counterpart to The Crystal Palace in south London.
