Living in West Kensington area information and guide

West Kensington area overview

West Kensington in west London is the area between Kensington, Fulham, Shepherds Bush and Brook Green. Most of the housing stock here is Victorian terraces which have largely been converted into flats. There are some spectacular facades including Fitzgeorge Avenue, Avonmore Gardens and Glyn Mansions. In the last few years many of the flats in the ex-council blocks have been sold off to first time buyers.

For better or worse, the value and rent levels in the buildings is determined by how many social tenants remain in them. The area is popular with Arabs, Americans and Australians but it is the Italian, French and Spanish who have made their mark on the area by opening their own schools there. It is well connected with it's own district line station one stop from Earls Court.
