Living in Stoke Newington area information and guide

Stoke Newington area overview

Stoke Newington in north London has transformed massively since the 1990s through fierce gentrification. It has become one of the most desirable areas of north London for mere mortals (i.e. people who don't work in financial services) paradoxically because it's not that well connected and doesn't have a tube line.

This kept a lid on prices and attracted a more sedentary population and families which in turn attracted high end boutiques and delis. Rents here are however rising all the time but the most affordable parts are to the east towards Hackney downs. There is lots of green space because of Clissold Park which has an animal and bird sanctuary and is a popular weekend destination for young families.
