Living in Shoreditch & Bethnal Green area information and guide

Shoreditch & Bethnal Green area overview

Bethnal Green in east London is an increasingly trendy area and one which is laying claim to title of heir of Shoreditch. As a creative hub it's popular with young artistic types. There is plenty of edgy entertainment to be had, a particular favourite being the Bethnal Green Working Mens club which puts on a range of frivolities including burlesque nights and ironic discos. The fact that it's only 15 minutes from oxford circus on the central line means that it's never going to be the cheapest area of London but the lack of shops and abundance of street markets means its less desirable to families and normal boring people, which helps keep a lid on rents (for now).
