Living in Sanderstead area information and guide

Sanderstead area overview

Sanderstead is a quiet commuter village in deep south London close to the boundary with Surrey. It is notable for not having any pubs due to the one time Lord of the Manor being against drinking. You'll be pleased to hear that the nearby village of Warlingham has six. The area has it's own overland station which takes commuters into Victoria in just 23 minutes, which is very fast considering the distance.

The area has some notable former residents including super model Kate Moss, the first woman to sit in the Cabinet of the UK government (Rt. Hon. Margaret Bondfield) and the last woman to be executed in the UK (Ruth Ellis). Interestingly it also claims to be the origin of the surname Sanders.
