Living in Friern Barnet area information and guide

Friern Barnet area overview

Friern Barnet in north London is a residential suburb comprised mainly of late Victorian and early Edwardian homes as well as larger houses from the interwar construction boom. Much of the property is owner-occupied, but in recent years many of the larger properties have been subdivided into flats and bedsits as land values have risen. There are also some areas of very recent housing, particularly Princess Park Manor, a luxury redevelopment of the infamous Victorian Colney Hatch Lunatic Asylum. It was in this building where Ashley Cole met his future wife, pop singer Cheryl Tweedy.
