Living in Dalston area information and guide

Dalston area overview

Dalston in east London is the epitome of urban cool, to the point where lots of places have been dubbed the next Dalston. In 2009 The Guardian published an article on Dalston naming it the "coolest" place to live in Britain. It's a very intense urban environment with a predictably varied ethnic population and is architecturally a mixture of Georgian and victorian terraces and twentieth century social housing estates.

The area has seem massive amount of gentrification spurred on by the redevelopment of Dalston Junction tube station and the investment east London received in the build-up to the 2012 Olympics. It is true London through and through, in fact Fassett Square was the inspiration for the BBC soap EastEnders. Originally, there were plans to film the series there, on location.
