Living in Balham area information and guide

Balham area overview

Balham in south west London is surrounded by three commons, Clapham, Wandsworth and tooting. It used to be considered just the poor cousin of Wandsworth and Clapham but as those areas have become almost prime London Balham has in turn become more desirable as an overspill area. It's certainly still a bit rough around the edges and the fabric of many buildings could do with some tender loving care. However the attractiveness of the area is under pinned by the presence of a northern line station which takes residents straight to the centre of London in minutes.
